Water-related Disastrous Situation of Jampur

There are two distributaries of Dajal Canal i.e. Firdous and Kauser. Indus Consortium is working with “Water User Associations” at the tail end of Kauser Distributary. The allocated water of the Kauser Distributary is 121 cusecs, as shown and written at the door of the distributary. We met with Pinsaal, who is responsible to measure the water two times a day on daily basis through installed gauges and ensures the proper water flow. When we visited the gauge along with him he showed that the flow is 41 cusecs only. “Look! I have the whole schedule day-wise in written by my higher officials. I am bound to obey that. For today, I have to release 1/7 i.e. 41 cusecs" said Pinsaal when I asked him why not to release the mentioned allocated water.
