Indus Consortium and HELP foundation in its “improving water governance project” supported by Oxfam Novib organized two days workshop on the issues of water governance for civil society organizations of DG Khan and Rajnapur districts of Punjab province. Representatives of civil society organizations from respective districts participated in the workshop and shared their experiences and concern on water governance. Mr Muhammad Tarique sub engineer irrigation department Rajnapur, representatives of Muslim aid participated in day one proceedings and shared their organizational work on water. First day participants discussed about the irrigations law of Punjab, PIDA system, organizational structure of irrigation department and sections of law addressing to water theft and role of department. Mr Jamshaid Fareed Soomro, Programmes Manager HELP Foundation, Hussain Jarwar National Coordinator Indus Consortium, Arif Aziz District Coordinator, Ms Rukhsana Mubarik Project Coordinator HELP Foundation shared successes of water programme and other ongoing work of Indus Consortium and HELP Foundation.
Day 2 - Representatives of SAAF Pani Project of Government of Punajab, Mojeez Organization, HELP Foundation, representatives of water user associations of Daajal canal shared their experiences with relevance of water governance. On the second day of workshop participants learnt about Right to information law of Punajb, issues of governance of irrigation system and role of department.
